Kindergarten Teacher and Title I Teacher

Kindergarten Teacher, Gwin Elementary

3rd Grade Teacher, Gwin Elementary

I have taught preschool music and regular 4K classes at God's House Kindergarten, and preschool music only at St. Luke's Mothers' Day Out.  I was an accompanist with the Children's Dance Foundation during their beginning years with their founder, Jeannie Robertson.  I was the Preschool Choir Coordinator at Briarwood Presbyterian Church, where I was responsible for curriculuum, parent volunteer training, all lesson plans, and the programs for one hundred four and five year olds.  I also was the children's and adult handbell choir director at Briarwood Presbyterian Church from 1982-1990.  I have directed all ages of children's church choirs.  I worked at The Exceptional Foundation for one and a half years, after being a volunteer for one semester while in graduate school.  I was a volunteer for Better Basics, and served at Hemphill Elementary. I have taught piano to all ages since 1979.

I have been a proud member of the Hoover City Schools faculty for the last nine years. I am certified P-6 for classroom and P-12 for reading.

This is my 11th year in Hoover City Schools and my 37th year of teaching children of all ages. I have also taught private piano and church choirs to all ages.  In Hoover, I have taught kindergarten, third grade, and Title One.

On a personal note, I have been married to Philip Capra since 1979.  We have three children: Claire, Thomas, and Emily. I enjoy gardening, reading, music, and playing with our dogs, Gus and Macy.
