This is my 22nd year of teaching, and my 18th year in Hoover City Schools. I have taught grades 1-5, and currently teach Title I Reading. I have worked at Trace Crossings (1993-1997); Gwin (1997-1999); Prince of Peace Catholic School (2002-2006); Shades Mountain Elementary (2006-2017); Rocky Ridge Elementary (2017-present).

Literacy is my passion, and it is a privilege to provide instruction and practice in Reading to Title I students! My mother and sister were teachers, and my brother-in-law is a teacher and coach-so it runs in the family. My husband, Ron, and I were married on Valentine's Day in 2015. We live in Montevallo  with our miniature schnauzer, Sophie. We attend  Riverchase United Methodist Church, where Ron helps teach Sunday School.

I have a 22-year-old daughter, Lindsey, who recently graduated from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh where  she was on their Division I Women's Rowing Team.

My hometown is Mobile, and I was an Azalea Trail Maid and Mobile County's Junior Miss / Finalist to Alabama's Junior Miss in  1978. I continue to serve as a judge for local preliminaries all over the state, and encourage girls to pursue scholarships in this program.

I am currently serving a two-year term as President of Gamma (Birmingham) chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma (Educator's Honor Sorority). I am also in a local P.E.O. chapter.

I grew up moving every few years, so I have a lot of empathy for new students. Other states I have lived in: Florida, Delaware, New York, Texas, Massachusetts.
